My handbrake cable decided to snap yesterday.....and it ran off.in gear.yes in gear.



The hill I live on is a clue....

Damn lucky with the curb stopping the car mate. Guess this a lesson for everyone to get their cars checked over before winter. Did you have the car in the wrong gear btw.

so it rolled forwards down the hill and was in reverse?

why has nobody pointed out its the wrong H badge on that wheel?

No, what I meant was if it was facing down the hill (which would imply bonnet facing down the hill) but was in reverse gear, how did it happen?
would suggest it reverse wasn't fully engaged in the box surely?

It was in and nobody knows.....

one of only 3 options then surely.......A) your reverse cog is completely stripped.....B)despite what you may have thought it wasnt fully in gear......C) clutch is utterly mullered and it slipped (never heard of that happening though, as I reckon you'd have noticed a slipping clutch well before now)
