Wheel bearings.
Gen1's have notoriously weak wheel bearings.They are noted for regular failures and are usually identified by a droning sound whilst driving.Not massively expensive to fix.....just a pain!

Looking at about £20-£25 for a bearing and around £40 quid in labour. Unless your local garage is a ripoff - in which case - don't go there. Do NOT attempt a front bearing change unless you have a beefy hydraulic press. It's a giant waste of time (believe me, I tried).
