New to be owner of a Ser III
Hi All,
If all goes to plan will be picking up my Ser III next week, have been a member her previously but couldn't seem to log on. been a long time ! Previously I had a Ser I 2.0 SE in metallic red , then a Ser III in pillar box red (excuse the colour references forgotten the proper names) and have now put a deposit down on a silver IIIa.
Don't know why I sold the last two as I can't think of anything that went wrong with them , hope the "new" one's the same, its done 66000 miles, 2006 so supect its on its original timing belt

Re: New to be owner of a Ser III
Yep all good so far , changed the coolant as it looked suspiciously like water , might have been clear anti freeze but I suspect not ! The remote fob that came with the car did not work , so that went to someone on FB who wanted a fob and I fitted an Ebay remote locking kit - worked like a charm once I was brave enough to chop into that yellow lead . Would have been better if I hadn't taken out the "room" fuse with my cutters shorting the feed , will use the insulated handle ones next time ....nissan300zx wrote: back mate. hope your new coupe serves you well.
Seem to have "accidently " bought a Gen 3 V6 with a blown engine as I needed a couple of bits for mine , er top cover off the seatbelt and an ariel to replace the useless bee sting - Mrs did not seem to think that was justification for some reason ;-)
Good to be back in a coop

Re: New to be owner of a Ser III
My Gen 3 V6 turned up this afternoon and it looks not bad at all , my neighbour came out to find out what it was ! Its obv been sitting for a while and while the battery looked new it was completely flat , jump starting it from another battery took a while but it eventually fired up :-)
With a lot of smoke , rattles and a growing pool of oil under the car , think a rod has made a break for freedom ! Which is prob good as it stops me trying to save it and I can get some bits for my 3.5 . Its got 3/4 tank of fuel in it , a DAB radio , 17" wheels etc so shouldn't cost me much in the end - hopefully !

Re: New to be owner of a Ser III
Yep , well if I don't include the recovery of £60 , shame really as arches etc don't have any rust , front of the bonnet has rust but rest of it is pretty good . But with a blown engine and the cheapest s/h one being £250+ it looks like it doesn't have much of a futureHotRedCoupe wrote:100 quid????? REALLY?!?!
Re: New to be owner of a Ser III
Even with a secondhand engine that's amazing value. Car looks stunning.
Do you intend to repair or break for parts?

Re: New to be owner of a Ser III
The pics probably flatter it a bit as usual , its got some scrapes to the bumpers and a crease in the passenger door but still a good looking car .It's a shame but I'm probably going to take some bits off for my 3.5 then see if I can break/sell the rest but can see the wheels etc are going to be sellable but that leaves me with a shell stuck on the drive !
I like the idea of a rear wheel drive conversion but its not going to happen - takes me long enough to touch in a stone chip !

Re: New to be owner of a Ser III
When I see cars like this one for £700 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/05-HYUNDAI-CO ... 2286071789
I can't see my red one being viable for a replacement engine when you can buy an up and running one for so little ? Daft value compared with anything else .
